Specialised Fastening Tools
Occasionally an application may not be possible with a conventional nailer or stapler. For these occasions a specialised fastening tool may be necessary. There are a range of tools that can be grouped into this category, some of the most common are as follows:
- Carton Closing Stapler – Generally a Type 32 stapler, carton closing staplers use compressed air and are designed to close and secure cartons.
- Clinch Stapler – A compact, yet powerful specialised pneumatic stapler, designed for the undertaking of applications such as light assembly, shoe making and the fastening of cartons, boxes and packaging.
- Corrugated Fastener – One of the most commonly used specialised fastening tools, corrugated fasteners are used in a variety of roof trusses, timber framing and joist fastening applications. An air corrugated fastener gun tends to fire fastenings ranging from 9mm-15mm and is a common tool in the range of many well known brands.
- Flexi Point Tab Tool – An uncommon but popular tool amongst its users, the flexi point tab tool is extremely specialised and designed for applications such as picture framing, photo framing and mirror framing.
- Flooring Nailer – A tool similar to its pneumatic counterpart, the manual flooring nailer is designed to attach solid and hardwood flooring to sub floors. The difference is that is relies solely on the strength of the user operating it, it does not use any compressed air to help in firing its cleats.
- Hog Ring Pliers – A Lightweight tool designed for car seat manufacturing, bedding manufacturing and packaging.
- Mini Corrugated Fastener – A mini version of the corrugated fastener gun, designed mainly for use in roof trusses and joist fastening applications.
- Picture Framing Stapler – A high quality sturdy pneumatic tool designed specifically for framing applications; its use is ideal in the manufacturing of frames.
- Polymer Nailer – A pneumatic second fix nailer, this tool fires polymer (plastic) nails and is designed as a substitute for regular second fix nailers, for use in applications where a metal fastening may cause damage to the intended target area.
- Polymer Stapler – Polymer staplers fire polymer (plastic) staples and are intended to be used in applications where a regular metal staple may cause damage.
