The Different Types Of Cordless Nailers & Staplers

Frustrated by limiting air hoses, cordless tools could be the perfect option for you. A substitute for their pneumatic counterparts, a cordless nailer or cordless stapler can help you get into those hard to reach areas, where a pneumatic tool simply can’t reach, or where it is impractical to use one. While pneumatic tools simply run on compressed air, cordless tools are available in two main variations. There are gas tools, which run on both batteries and fuel cells and battery tools, which run exclusively on batteries.

Cordless Nailers:

Just like pneumatic nailers, a cordless nail gun can be categorised into two main groups, first fix and second fix. However, unlike pneumatic nailers, cordless nail guns are mainly only available in strip nailer variations; cordless coil nailers are fell less common.

First Fix Cordless Nailers:

  • Cordless Framing Nailer – A must have tool when working on large scale construction projects and heavy-duty applications, this tool is robust, powerful and the heaviest duty cordless nailer available on the market.
  • Cordless Roofing Nailer – Working on roofs is already tough, without the added inconvenience of an air hose. Cordless roofing nailers are a perfect solution to this problem, helping you attach roofing materials to roofs, without the worry of an air hose that may be limiting in length.
  • Cordless Positive Placement Joist Hanger Nailer – A tool designed to be used in applications that involve joists and rafters, having an attached air hose can sometimes get in the way when working. For those areas where there is limited space and maximum manoeuvrability is required, a cordless joist hanger nailer could be an ideal option.

Second Fix Cordless Nailers:

  • Cordless Finish Nailer – Designed to fire 16 gauge and 15 gauge nails, cordless finish nail guns provide the strongest hold out of any second fix cordless nailers. However, due to the size of the fastenings they fire, they also provide the least aesthetic finish out of all second fix cordless nail guns.
  • Cordless Brad Nailer – Firing 18 gauge nails, cordless brad nailers fire slightly smaller fastenings than cordless finish nailers, meaning they provide a more aesthetic finish, albeit at the expense of holding power.

Cordless Staplers:

In comparison to pneumatic air staplers, the range of cordless staplers available on the market is far smaller. While there are several brands that sell cordless staplers, their ranges tend to be limited. The most common type of cordless staple gun is the cordless fencing stapler. This is almost exclusively the only type of cordless stapler produced by manufacturers.
